Kaleo plans to hit the studio after fall tour to record “A/B” follow-up

Credit: Alexandra ValentiKaleo is currently traveling North American on their Express headlining tour, and when the outing wraps up, the Icelandic band plans to start recording their next album.

“What I really wanna focus on after this fall tour, the Express tour, is really just getting into the studio, finishing up the second album,” frontman JJ Julius Son tells ABC Radio.

The new album will be the follow-up to 2016’s A/B, which features the singles “Way Down We Go” and “No Good.” As for how the new material will sound, Julius Son says he’s simply “just gonna do my thing.”

“Each song can sound different,” he says. “I think some of the songs [sound like] something that maybe…I haven’t been doing.”

Julius Son was proud of the diversity of sounds on A/B, and he expects that to continue on the next album.

“It’s just gonna be, I think, as different as the last album. I’m not trying to do one thing,” he says. “So I’m trying to have everything come together, and obviously maybe something will happen in the studio, too. But the songs are there, and I’m really excited to get back into the studio.”

Kaleo’s tour continues tonight, October 2 in Houston, Texas. The U.S. leg of the trek will conclude October 21 in New York City.
