Kid Rock premieres new song, “Tennessee Mountain Top”; gives onstage campaign-style speech

Clay Patrick McBride/Top Dog RecordsKid Rock has shared a new song titled “Tennessee Mountain Top.” The track, which leans on the musician’s country influences, is available now via digital platforms.

“Tennessee Mountain Top” is the follow-up to the singles “Greatest Show on Earth” and “Po-Dunk,” which were released over the summer during the same week Rock first teased his campaign for a U.S. Senate seat in his hometown of Michigan.

In other Kid Rock news, the rocker gave a rhyming, campaign-style speech during a concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan Wednesday night in which he addressed his potential run. He took aim at those who’ve followed quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s lead and knelt during the national anthem at football games, as well as those who “call me a racist ’cause I’m not PC and think you have to remind me that Black Lives Matter.”

Also during the speech, he denounced Nazis, bigots and the KKK, telling them to “say the f***” away.

Rock concluded by teasing that he has even grander ambitions than just a Senate seat.

“If Kid Rock for Senate has got folks in disarray, wait until they hear Kid Rock for President of the USA!” he declared. Fan-shot footage of the speech is streaming now via YouTube.

Even aside from his potential Senate run, Kid Rock has been a lightning rod for controversy lately. He’s scheduled to play a run of six shows at Detroit’s newly opened Little Caesars Arena next week, and the National Action Network civil rights group plans to protest the concerts due to Rock’s stance on Kaepernick and his support of President Donald Trump.
